Plymouth Doctoral Colloquium (UKPDC) 2017
Monday 5th – Tuesday 6th June 2017
Plymouth University’s Faculty of Business is pleased to announce the 12th annual PhD. conference under the theme: Promoting research and the researcher.
The development of personal and research skills lie at the heart of the postgraduate experience. However the postgraduate experience needs to do more than focus on the specific research techniques. For research to have impact and be valued, it needs to be presented and promoted in appropriate ways in the relevant media. Postgraduate researchers are generally very reticent about promoting themselves and their ideas. But if you are creating things of value it is important that other people are able to benefit from that value. At least as important is to build a solid reputation through both producing value and establishing a personal reputation. The colloquium theme comprises the elements:
- the meaning of research impact to the individual postgraduate researcher
- writing papers and presenting
- Getting your research read and cited
- Promoting yourself and your research
- Building networks
Papers (completed and in progress) from PhD students and more advanced researchers are invited in the fields of:
- Business and Management
- Policy and Law
- Accounting and finance
